197X年、花川戸あやめは、浅草の下町で代々植木屋を営む家族といっしょに平穏な日々を送る女子高生だった。しかしある春の日、突如、不気味な姿をした侵略者“オーガピエンス”が出現。あやめは、謎の青年、甲児に導かれるまま巨大戦闘ロボット“ジーマイン”のパイロットになってしまう。
ジーマインとは、宇宙ロケットアポロ11号が月面で回収した謎の金属片“ジーデヴァイス”に記されていたオーバーテクノロジーを解読し日米が共同開発したロボットだった。その開発に携わっていたのはロバート・コーン。あやめを長姉とする花川戸家の四姉妹、れんげ、すみれ、さつきの実の父だった。そして12年前、現れたオーガピエンスに父はジーマインで立ち向かい、戦いに巻き込まれた母ゆりこと共に亡くなったのだという。
ジーマイン開発責任者ジム・ペキンパーから両親の秘密を知らされ、ジーマインを起動できるのは特別な遺伝子を持つロバートの娘たちだけだと聞かされたあやめは、双子の妹れんげ、すみれと共に、持ち前の勇気と熱血で、侵略者オーガピエンスと熾烈な戦いを繰り広げていく。
In the year 197X, Hanakawado Ayame was a high school girl living a peaceful life with her family, who have run a gardening business for generations in the downtown area of Asakusa. However, one spring day, the eerie invaders "Ogapiens" suddenly appear. Guided by a mysterious young man, Koji, Ayame becomes the pilot of a giant combat robot "Z-Mine".
Z-Mine was a robot jointly developed by Japan and the United States after deciphering the over-technology written on the mysterious metal piece "Z-Device" that was retrieved on the surface of the moon by the space rocket Apollo 11. Robert Corn was involved in its development. He was the biological father of the four Hanakawado sisters, Renge, Sumire, and Satsuki, of which Ayame is the eldest. And 12 years ago, her father used Z-Mine to fight against the Ogapiens, and died along with their mother Yuriko, who was caught up in the battle.
Ayame learns the secret of her parents from Jim Peckinpah, the head of Z-Mine's development, and that only Robert's daughters, who possess special genes, can activate Z-Mine. Together with her twin sisters Renge and Sumire, she then uses her natural courage and passion to wage a fierce battle against the invaders, the Orgapiens.
